The CITY OF HARLINGEN has four contract positions for: a. Associate Municipal Court Judge All applicants must have a law degree from an accredited law school, be licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of Texas and have at least 4 years experience practicing law. These positions will require the successful applicants to be alternate judges for the Presiding Judge in his absence. Duties of the judicial position include, but are not limited to, presiding over class “C” misdemeanor court sessions, bench and jury trials, and show cause hearings. Duties will also include presiding over arraignments of class “C” misdemeanor arrests and magistrate warnings of class “A” & “B” misdemeanor and felony arrests. These positions will require the Associate Municipal Court Judges to work as needed. Compensation will be based on a preset compensation schedule for assigned tasks.
