Welcome to the Hidalgo County Bar Foundation.

The Hidalgo County Bar Foundation (HCBF) was founded in 2002 and is the charitable and public service arm of the Hidalgo County Bar Association (HCBA). Through the HCBF, HCBA members serve the community by volunteering in our many educational and community outreach programs.  Some of these programs include: the three-time award winning A Su Lado "Call a Lawyer" Phone Bank, broadcast quarterly in conjunction with Univision - Channel 48; Celebrate Freedom Week, an educational program directed at high-school aged students and held during the first week of November of each year; the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, held in November; the annual Holiday Toy Drive, held in December; our annual Mock Trial Competitions, held in February in conjunction with Region One Education Service Center; and the Law Day Scholarship Contests and Law Day Gala, held in May of each year.  The HCBF also works in affiliation Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Inc.; our local courts; and other local bar associations to provide a Community Justice Program (CJP) to thousands of people in the Rio Grande Valley who would otherwise not have access to the courts. The HCBF Scholarship Endowment Fund provides scholarships to Hidalgo County college seniors who have applied and/or have been accepted to law school.  Last, but not least, the HCBF Public Service Fund provides grant monies to school groups and charitable organizations in need of financial assistance.  To learn more about our education programs and public service projects, please click on the program and/or project identified herein, or visit our Public Information web page.
