Join the Hidalgo County Bar Association Today.
In order to be a member of the Hidalgo County Bar Association (HCBA), you must be an attorney licensed to practice in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas, and must also office and/or reside in Hidalgo County. Associate membership is available any licensed attorney from another state who is in good standing with the state bar with which he/she is licensed. Associate membership is also available to any area attorney who offices and/or resides outside of Hidalgo County and who is in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
The HCBA fiscal year fiscal year runs June through May. Dues are $100.00 payable by July 31st of each year. Discounted rates are available for full time government employed attorneys and public practice attorneys. Dues are waived for attorneys who were licensed within the fiscal year, and emeritus attorneys. To join the HCBA, please click here.
Our Board of Directors and Executive Director are hard at work building a stronger Association for our members and public service groups. Through our comprehensive web site www.hidalgobar.org our members can join the HCBA on-line, and can access detailed information about the HCBA including a directory of members, the award winning monthly newsletter The Summons, upcoming CLE events (local and state-wide), court information, city and county offices, local media, advertisers including legal support companies, mediators, and of course an up-to-date HCBA calendar. Advertising opportunities on www.hidalgobar.org are available to you and your law office. Finally, www.hidalgobar.org is a public service mechanism providing detailed information on non-profit organizations supported by the HCBA such as The Community Justice Program, South Texas Civil Rights Project, and Advocacy Resource Center for Housing.
As the majority of our members operate small law firms (less than 3 attorneys), we realize your need for CLE seminars held locally. The HCBA is proud to host several quality live programs throughout the year. We are also constantly researching avenues for conducting more CLE in the Valley including local live seminars and custom CLE.
It is a very stressful and hectic life attorney’s lead; so much so that it seems our socializing is more often limited to brief exchanges on the courthouse steps or a business lunch. The HCBA provides a number of social engagements throughout the year, some of which are open to guests and family members.
